SAN DIEGO, Nov. 9, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Sony Electronics (SEL) proudly announced that it received a perfect score of 100 percent on the 2018 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), a national benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices related to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) workplace equality, administered by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation. SEL joins the ranks of major U.S. businesses which also earned top marks this year. Sony Electronics has participated in CEI since 2011 and is proud to have achieved high rankings consistently, with the last 3 years achieving the highest ranking score of 100%.
"Sony Electronics has exhibited a long history of supporting a diverse work environment where everyone's unique differences are recognized and celebrated. Our management teams seek individuals from a variety of generations, lifestyles, socioeconomic and educational backgrounds. Everyone is encouraged to express their opinions and share ideas," stated Mike Fasulo, President and Chief Operating Officer. "We believe this style of communication brings open and honest conversations and leads us to innovate, not just in business, but in the entire workplace."
The 2018 CEI rated 945 businesses in the report, which evaluates LGBTQ-related policies and practices including non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, competency programs and public engagement with the LGBTQ community.
