I purchased the Sony RSX-GS9 as an audio upgrade from an Alpine X803DU, at first I could tell little difference between the Alpine and the Sony (do not expect night and day), But once I started to play music that I knew well the differences start to show and I would recommend the product as a result. Were the Sony shines is in the details that you start to hear in the music that you hadn't heard before, a tap of the drums, a back ground instrument, a vocal singer, etc, its subtle, but it makes quite a difference. I have also found that voices are cleaner, I can now make out lyrics that I struggled to understand before. Night and day improvement No, a welcome improvement Yes for those who want to experience as much as possible from music playback

I bought my RSX-GS9 last week to replace my oldie but excellent Premier DEH-P880PRS. It sends the signal to pair of Tru Technology Billet Series amps which drives a pair of DLS component speakers and a 10 inch sub in a Stealth enclosure. After turning it on, I couldn’t believe how big a difference it was in sound. It was like lifting a veil from in front of the speakers. Usually there’s a huge difference when speakers are upgraded but with the Sony, the music sounded cleaner with a lot more detail without sounding “digital” and there is more power and punch without sounding bloated or slow. I am very impressed with the RSX-GS9. I think I’m going to be happy with this Sony for years to come.

This unit came in the car I purchased to I cannot complain to much but, the screen is so small and difficult to read. During the day, forget it. Bluetooth does not connect that well.

I purchased this a month ago and I feel like I wasted a lot of money. I used optical out instead of aux. When doing this I lost all features to 8nclude volume control, steering wheel controls, equalizers etc. Luckily I also purchased the perfect 8 channel amp to save the day. The downfall is i have to now use a bass knob to control the volume. The remote that comes with the device isn't even Bluetooth, it has to be pointed directly at the radio for it to function ( so if you hide your radio you have no other option but to use your phone or tablet). With that being said I had to upgrade my phone and when I did I had to tear the dash back apart to ge to the radio just to push the Bluetooth pairing button. The same rules apply if you change the battery or even disconnect it to add speakers or subs. Before I continue let me state this" This radio looks awesome, good job product design. Let's get back to it. You can only tell the optical difference when the car is not running meaning no wind noise, engine noise or AC. It was at the u is point that I realized that wasted a lot of money. I can't really judge the sound because I upgraded to 8 jl audio c7 speakers and vxi amplifiers, and in use tidal for hi res audio. This all adds to the listening experience, so I can't say just the radio sounds good. I can however say I love they way my overall SYSTEM sounds though. I just feel that I could have gotten a very comparable sound for an 1/8 of the price. Would I recommend this? No: Do I feel as if I just wasted money? Yes: in this case I feel like I would have been better off with the normal $400 radios. Lastly whats the point in bragging about how one could hide their radio and control it from their mobile device whe using the highest resolution cable (optical)when all of the options are grayed out. Needless to say this will on ebay soon as some comes out with the next flagship radio.

Hi-Res for sure, pure digital and very definite sound quality. Install one last week and everyone that heard it was overwhelmed with the emotion of the sound. Could not find anything that offered digital out.

What a powerfull Head Unit On this planet.. True Hi-Res..

The RSX-GS9 is The Highest Sound Quality Head Unit Currently in Production ! It is NOT for people who looks for "gimmicks" or "ease of use", Although I found it simplicity refreshing and very easy to use ! If you look for the Best of the Best Sound Quality (at this moment), then Sony RSX-GS9 will be PERFECT for you. I owned many high end head unit before like Nakamichi CD-700 Mk2, Nakamichi TD-1200 Limited etc., and this Sony have similar analog audio quality but with much better digital audio capability! One last thing, also like the touch, feel and design, it feel high end, unlike the "light in Tokyo" design of other head unit out there!

Fails to have treble mid and base adjustment and will not tune in to existing setup.. Also while playing tracks on USB if you turn engine off it restart the track from the beginning

I've been looking for a head unit to match my beloved Nakamichi CD700 and finally found it. God bless you Sony!
