The subwoofer or rear speaker cuts out or makes noise

IMPORTANT: This article applies only to specific products and/or operating systems. Check Applicable Products and Categories for details.

Various reasons can cause noise interference to the sound from the subwoofer or rear speakers. Try these steps and check the sound after completing each one.

    1. Move the speaker system away from any device that generates electromagnetic waves, such as a wireless LAN device or a microwave oven.
    2. Remove any obstacle between the Soundbar and subwoofer or rear speaker, or move them away from the obstacle.
    3. Move the Soundbar and subwoofer or rear speaker closer together.
    4. To reduce interference from another device on the same wireless LAN connection as the Soundbar and speakers, change the network connection of other devices (TV, Blu-ray Disc™ Player, and so on) to a wired LAN.
    5. Follow these steps to switch the RF Channel to Off and then back to On again:
      • Sony | Home Entertainment Connect supported models
        1. Open the Home Entertainment Connect app.
        2. Select SettingsWireless Speaker Connection Settings.
        3. Disable the Optimizing Connection Frequency setting and enable it again.
      • Other models:
        1. On the Soundbar remote control, press the HOME button.
        2. Select SetupAdvanced Settings.
        3. In the RF Channel setting, select Off once, and turn the setting On again.
      Notes:
      • We recommend the RF Channel setting is set to On (default setting: On). The Soundbar automatically selects the best channel for transmission when RF Channel is set to On, which makes it stronger against wireless interference.
      • If the sound issue persists, turn Off the setting.
      • It may take one minute to reconnect after you change the RF Channel settings.
      • The frequency setting is deleted after disconnecting the power cord. If you disconnect the power cord, switch RF Channel from Off to On again.
    6. Set the Wireless Playback Quality to Connection
      • Sony | Home Entertainment Connect supported models:
        1. Open the Home Entertainment Connect app.
        2. Select SettingsWireless Speaker Connection Settings.
        3. Select Wireless Playback Quality, and set it to Priority on Stable Connection.
      • Other models:
        1. On the Soundbar remote control, press the HOME button.
        2. Select SetupAdvanced Settings.
        3. Select Speaker SettingsWireless Speaker SettingsWireless Playback Quality, and set it to Priority on Stable Connection.
