How to insert, fit, and remove your OTC hearing aids

Your OTC hearing aid will arrive preinstalled with size S (small) click sleeves. If these aren’t comfortable, you can switch to one of the other three sizes provided (XS, M, L). Choose a smaller size if the hearing aid is pressing on your ear or a larger size if the hearing aid feels loose or makes a whistling noise. Also, your left and right ear may be slightly different sizes, so feel free to use different size sleeves in each ear.

Insert and remove the hearing aids

    Inserting the hearing aids

Check that you have the correct hearing aid positioned for each ear before inserting them. Use L for your left ear and R for your right ear. Refer to the detailed instructions in section 3 - Wearing the hearing aids of the Quick setup guide for your model to learn how to insert the hearing aids.

    Removing the hearing aids

    • For the CRE-C10 and CRE-C20: Grab the clear removal cord attached to the hearing aid and gently pull it out of your ear canal.
    • For the CRE-E10: Pinch the hearing aid between your fingers and gently pull to remove it from your ear canal.

Find the correct sleeve size for your ears

Your hearing aid will arrive with size S (small) click sleeves attached. If these aren’t comfortable, you can switch to one of the other three sizes provided (XS, M, L). Choose a smaller size if the hearing aid is pressing on your ear, or a larger size if it feels loose or makes a whistling noise. Also, your left and right ears may be slightly different sizes, so feel free to use different-sized sleeves in each ear.

Refer to the detailed instructions in section 3 - Find the correct sleeve size of the Quick setup guide for your model to learn how to insert the hearing aids.

What to do if your hearing aid doesn't fit properly

    1. Check left vs right
      • Make sure each hearing aid is in the correct ear — right (R) hearing aid in right ear, left (L) hearing aid in left ear.
    2. Confirm proper orientation
      • Refer to the reference images in your model Quick setup guide to ensure the hearing aid is positioned correctly in your ear.
    3. Check the sleeve tab alignment
      • Use the images in your model Quick setup guide to verify that the tab on the sleeve is aligned correctly on the side of the hearing aid.
    4. Try different sleeve sizes
      • Test each of the sleeve sizes to find the best fit for each ear.
        Note

        • Vented and closed sleeves are identical in size and shape. Switching between them won't resolve the issue.
        • Custom ear molds are not available for this product.

    5. Position your ear for a better fit
      • Gently pull up and back on your ear (or down on the earlobe) while inserting the hearing aid. This can help open the ear canal for a better fit.
      • The hearing aid should sit securely and deeply in the ear canal, but not so tightly or deeply that it causes discomfort.

    Note

    • It's normal for hearing aids to shift or work their way out while talking or eating. Jaw movement can affect the shape of your ear canal.
      • If this happens, simply press the hearing aid gently back into place as needed.
    • If your hearing aid frequently falls out or never feels secure, you may benefit from seeing a hearing care professional.
