Unable to connect a device to the HomeShare network system
- Install your server, client devices and wireless LAN router/access point away from devices that emit electromagnetic radiation (such as microwave ovens, cordless telephones, etc.) or other wireless communication-capable devices that could be causing interference which would result in poor wireless network performance.
- Check to see if there are any obstacles, such as metallic elements or walls that could lead to poor wireless network performance near your server, client devices or wireless LAN router/access point.
- If your server and client devices are located in a different room from where you have installed your wireless LAN router/access point, the wireless communication could be weak due to poor signal strength. Try changing the location of your server and client devices to an area closer to your router/access point.
- Due to interference from other wireless LAN networks, your home network could become unstable. Try changing the WIFI channel setting on your wireless LAN router/access point. If assistance is needed on how to change this setting, refer to the manual that came supplied with your router.
- Wireless communication problems may occur when using your wireless LAN router/access point if you have not updated the router to the latest firmware upgrade. Make sure that your router/access point has been upgraded to the most recent firmware upgrade.
- The security key setting on the unit may be wrong. Confirm the security key setting on your wireless LAN router/access point and set the correct security key on the unit itself.
