Before You Start
Please follow the steps below check the current software version to determine if your STR-DH810 Multi Channel AV Receiver needs an upgrade to support 3D features.

- Press
(on/standby) to turn off the receiver.
- While holding down the "INPUT MODE" and "DISPLAY" buttons, press
to display the software version.
- If the software version shown on the receiver display is "VER 1.013" or "VER 1.022", please continue to the next section.
Note: This upgrade can only be installed if the current software version is 1.013 or 1.022. - Press
to turn off the receiver.
- A drive with audio CD disc burning capability, and a new blank CD-R disc are required to create the upgrade disc.
Note: A CD-R disc is highly recommended. Do not use a CD-RW disc. - A player capable of playing an audio CD, that has Digital Optical Output, is required to perform this upgrade.
- The player must be connected to the STR-DH810 player by a Digital Optical Cable to perform this upgrade.
- If you cannot burn an audio CD or do not have a Digital Optical Cable, or if you require assistance, please contact the Sony customer call center at 1-866-909-SONY (7669).
- It is highly recommended that you print out these instructions for use as a reference during the installation process.

- Download thestrdh810-3dfw.zipfile to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
- Extract the update install files:
Note:Two files will be extracted:H81_0900M___D___H200.WAVandH81_0901M__D__H200.wav.- For Microsoft® Windows Vista® or Windows® 7 operating system:
- Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and right-click thestrdh810-3dfw.zipfile, and then click "Extract All.
- At the "Extract Compressed (Zipped) Folders" window, click "Extract"
- The update files will be extracted to a new folder called "strdh810-3dfw".
- For Windows XP operating system:
- Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and right-click thestrdh810-3dfw.zipfile, and then click "Extract All.
- At the "Extraction Wizard" dialog box, click "Next".
- Click "Next".
- Click "Finish".
- The update files will be extracted to a new folder called "strdh810-3dfw".
- For Macintosh® OS X operating system:
- Go to the location where the file was downloaded and double-click thestrdh810-3dfw.zipfile.
- The update files will be extracted to a new folder called "strdh810-3dfw".
- For Microsoft® Windows Vista® or Windows® 7 operating system:
- Use the create an audio, or music, CD option of your CD burning software to create the upgrade disc from the two files (H81_0900M___D___H200.WAVandH81_0901M__D__H200.wav).
- CD Burning Notes:
- Do not create a data disc. In order for the upgrade disc to work, you must create an audio, or music, CD.
- Use a new blank CD-R disc to create the upgrade disc.
Note:A CD-R disc is highly recommended. Do not use a CD-RW disc. - Disable or uncheck volume leveling in your disc burning software.
- Burn the disc at the lowest speed supported by your disc burning software.
- The upgrade disc must be finalized. Be sure to select "Finalize CD (No further writing possible)" in your CD burning software to finalize the disc.
- If write errors occur during the CD burning process, discard the disc and create a new upgrade disc.
- Burning the disc using packet writing software is not supported.
- Do not use an upgrade disc created using any other process than the one described above.
Select an audio/video component that can play an audio (music) CD and that has Digital Optical Output. You will use this player to perform the STR-DH810 Multi Channel AV Receiver software upgrade.

- Disconnect the player and the receiver from AC power.
- If the player and receiver are connected by an HDMI cable, disconnect the HDMI cable.
- Connect the player to the receiver using an optical digital cable.
- Reconnect the player and the receiver to AC power and turn them both on.
- Set the audio output on the player to Optical Out.
Note:Please consult the player's owner manual for more information about the Optical Out setting. - Turn the "INPUT SELECTOR" dial on the receiver to select "TV".
Note:To test that the player and receiver are connected and set correctly, play a standard audio CD. - Insert the upgrade CD you created in the previous section into the player.
IMPORTANT: Do not play the CD yet. - Press
(on/standby) to turn off the receiver.
- While holding down the "INPUT MODE" and "MUTING" buttons, press
.
Note:"UPDATE" appears on the receiver display. - Continue to hold down the buttons until "PLAY DISC" appears on the receiver display.
- Start the playing the upgrade CD in the connected player. After a few seconds "UPDATING" will appear on the receiver display. The upgrade takes about five minutes to complete.
Note:If "UPDATING" doesn't appear after 10 seconds, play the second track. - When "COMPLETE" appears on the receiver display the upgrade is complete.
- Remove the upgrade CD from the player.
- Disconnect the player and the receiver from AC power and disconnect the digital optical cable.
Note:If the digital optical cable is part of your usual connection setup, it is not necessary to disconnect it. - Reconnect the HDMI cable if you disconnected it in step 2.
- Reconnect the player and the receiver to AC power and power on the player.

- Press
(on/standby) to turn off the receiver.
- While holding down the "INPUT MODE" and "DISPLAY" buttons, press
to display the software version.
- If the software version shown on the receiver display is "VER 1.102" or "VER 1.111" the upgrade was successful.
