Error: "Turn power off then on" appears on the camera screen

The error message "Turn power off then on or Turn the power off and on again" appears on the display if the camera detects a malfunction, such as when forcing the lens or if a foreign object is trapped in the lens mechanism. The message also appears for the SteadyShot™ function or shutter problem-related issues for interchangeable lens cameras.

Solution

Turn off the camera and turn it back on after a few seconds. If the issue still occurs, follow the steps below to power cycle the camera.
