There are three different methods to reset your Android TV™ or Google TV™:
Restart or Power Reset is always recommended as the first step because it can resolve many issues without affecting your TV settings or saved information.
Factory Data Reset is the next step when the restart/power reset doesn't resolve the issue. This option will erase all user settings and return the TV to its original factory specifications.
Forced Factory Reset should be considered a last resort. Similar to a standard Factory Data Reset, it will delete all user settings and return the TV to its original factory specifications. Use this option only if you are unable to access the TV menu, do not have a remote control, or if you are specifically instructed to do so.

IMPORTANT: This article is for Android TV™ or Google TV™ models only.
Watch the video or follow the written instructions below to reset your TV.
Note
Video playback may not work if trying to view it from the TV Help section.
Step 1: Restart or Power Reset
The menu items and steps may vary by model, so follow the steps that best match your TV menu.
Note
If your TV does not respond to the remote control, perform a Power Reset instead.
Restart using the supplied remote control (easiest)
Turn ON the TV.
Point the remote control at the illumination LED or status LED (1) and press and hold the POWER button of the remote control (2) for about five seconds, or until the message "Power off" appears.
The TV should restart automatically. Wait for approximately one minute, and the TV will turn back ON. If it does not, press the POWER button on the remote control to turn ON the TV.
The TV restart operation is complete. Check to see if your issue has been resolved.
Note
Alternatively, you can also use the TV on-screen menu to restart the TV. Using the remote control, follow the steps that best match your TV.
Press HOME → Settings → Device Preferences → About → Restart → Restart
Power Reset
If restarting the TV didn't resolve the issue, try performing a Power Reset. With this process, you disconnect the power cord so the electricity in the TV is discharged. As a result, unnecessary data and error information in the memory will return to their defaults, and allow you to use the TV again normally.
Note
Skip this step if your TV power cord is inaccessible.
Turn OFF the TV.
Unplug the television power cord from the electrical outlet.
Let the television remain without power for two minutes.
Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet.
Check to see if your issue has been resolved.
Note
For some Google TV models, you can also perform a power reset by pressing the POWER button on the TV for about 40 seconds, or until the TV turns off.
Performing a factory data reset will remove all customer settings in the TV, including Google™ account, app, channel, camera device data, parental lock, and wireless network settings.
Note
You can sync your apps with your Google account to recover some of the application's data after you perform a factory reset. Follow the steps below depending on your TV menu.
Press HOME → navigate to Settings → Device Preferences or Accounts and Sign in → Google → Choose synced apps → select items to sync → Sync now
Press HOME → navigate to Settings → Google → Choose synced apps in Sync → select items to sync → Sync now
Press HOME → navigate to Settings → Personal → Google → Choose synced apps in Sync → select items to sync → Sync now
The factory reset may take a few moments. Wait until the process is completed.
You may need to enter a PIN code (if one was set on your TV) when you select the Erase everything option.
After the factory reset process completes, the TV will start the Initial Setup wizard. You must agree to the Google Terms of Service and Google Privacy Policy.
This procedure is typically used to address app errors, situations where the TV restarts by itself, or cases where the TV does not respond to remote control commands.
Warning
Performing this procedure will remove all customer settings in the TV, including Google™ account settings, apps, channels, and wireless network settings.
.
Note
Your TV must have Android™ 6.0 Marshmallow or a higher operating system installed in to perform this procedure.
This procedure may require two people.
Depending on which TV model you have, the location of the buttons will vary.
The number of buttons located on the back, side, or front of your TV (below the LED light) determines the reset steps you need to follow. Examine your TV and choose the option that corresponds to the number of buttons present, excluding the Power button:
