How to Check the Software Build Number

To check the current Build number of your PDT-FP1, find and tap Settings → About device.

How to Update the Software on Your PDT-FP1

Notes:

• When updating software, large amounts of data may be downloaded. We recommend using a Wi-Fi network to avoid data communication charges.
• While the software is being updated, you will not be able to use the PDT-FP1.
• To avoid disconnections, please perform the update in a place with good signal strength and without moving your location.
• To avoid a malfunction, never turn the PDT-FP1 off while updating the software, and make sure the battery is fully charged before starting the update.
• Some settings may be initialized after updating the software, so please reconfigure the settings.
• Stored data may be damaged or lost depending on the condition of the PDT-FP1 (e.g. malfunction, water leakage, etc.). Before updating your software, please make a backup of all the data you wish to keep. Sony will not be liable for any loss, deletion, and/or overwriting of personal data or files stored on your device (such as contacts, music tracks, and pictures) as a result of the update.

How to Set Up Automatic System Updates

To set up automatic system updates, please do the following:

1. Find and tap Settings → System → Software update.
2. Tap (More icon) → Settings → Auto update system.
3. Select Wi-Fi only.

Note: When ON is selected for Auto update system, software is automatically updated even when using a mobile network. To avoid data communication charges, we recommend using a Wi-Fi network instead of a mobile network to download new software.

How to Manually Download System Updates

To manually download system updates, please do the following.

1. When a software update is available, the (System update icon) appears in the status bar.
2. Drag the status bar downwards to open the Notification panel.
3. Scroll down and select the system update, then tap UPDATE.
4. When the download is finished, open the Notification panel again if it's closed, then tap RESTART.

Note: We recommend using a Wi-Fi network to avoid data communication charges.

Why Hasn't My PDT-FP1 Received an Update Yet?

Software updates are released at different times depending on the market, region, or country. Therefore, we cannot give you an exact date for when a specific update will be available for your PDT-FP1.
