The sound is distorted from the system output of the Bluetooth speaker

IMPORTANT: This article applies only to specific products and/or operating systems. Check Applicable Products and Categories for details.

If the sound from your Bluetooth® speaker system is distorted, several factors may affect the audio quality. Follow these troubleshooting steps to help identify and resolve the issue.

Note Each step is a possible solution. Check the sound after completing each step to determine whether the issue is resolved.

    1. Lower the volume of the connected device.
    2. Turn off the bass boost or equalizer function on the connected device, if available.
    3. Move the Bluetooth speaker system away from sources of wireless interference.
Keep the speaker system away from microwave ovens, televisions, wireless LAN devices, and other devices that may interfere with the Bluetooth signal.
    4. Move the Bluetooth speaker system and Bluetooth device closer together.
Remove obstacles between the devices, such as walls or furniture, and reduce nearby wireless interference. Environmental factors can affect the Bluetooth connection range. Under ideal conditions, the maximum operating range is approximately 10 meters (30 feet).
    5. Charge the Bluetooth speaker system if the CHARGE indicator (orange) is flashing.
Connect the AC adapter to charge the speaker system.
    6. Move devices with a built-in radio or tuner away from the Bluetooth speaker system.
Connecting a device with a built-in radio or tuner may reduce broadcast reception or sensitivity. Move the Bluetooth speaker system farther away from the device, and then check whether broadcast reception improves.
    7. Select the Priority on stable connection mode, if available.
If your Bluetooth speaker system supports Priority on stable connection mode, select this mode for Bluetooth audio streaming playback.
Note: For instructions on setting the Priority on stable connection mode, refer to the instruction manual. Manuals are posted on your model support page.
    8. For the SRS-X9, SRS-X99, SRS-X88, SRS-X77 portable speakers, try a different AC outlet.
Noise may be generated through the AC outlet. Connect the speaker to another AC outlet. Using a commercially available power strip with a noise filter may also reduce the noise.
