Check the Firmware Version

If the version displayed is 7600 or lower, we strongly recommend that you update the firmware.
If you're not sure, it's easy to check which firmware version you currently have.
You can check the firmware version as follows:
- Turn on the speaker.
- Launch the Sony | Music Center app.
- Connect your speaker to the Sony | Music Center app.
- Select Settings.
- Select System.
- Confirm the firmware version. (First 4 digits in the red box)
Important Notice
- Do not turn off your speaker while downloading updates, transferring data, or updating the firmware. Doing so may cause the speaker to stop working.
- Do not perform the update in a location where the Wi-Fi signal is inconsistent, such as on a train, in a place where Wi-Fi signals become congested, or near a microwave, cordless phone, or any other devices that use the 2.4 GHz band frequency radio waves.
- Make sure both your Android device or iPhone/iPad/iPod touch and speaker are fully charged.
- Make sure your speaker is connected to a power outlet via the AC adapter before starting the update.
- Disconnect all other Bluetooth devices such as wearable devices or smartwatches from your Android device or iPhone/iPad/iPod touch before starting the update.
Before You Upgrade
- After updating, the firmware cannot be reverted to an earlier version.
- For Android devices, the update process will take approximately 2 minutes to complete.
- For iPhone/iPad/iPod touch devices, the update process will take approximately 12 minutes to complete.
- Depending on the radio wave environment and your Android device or iPhone/iPad/iPod touch, it may take longer to complete.
Download & Install
To update the speaker, follow the procedure below:
- Download the data from the server to your Android device or iPhone/iPad/iPod touch.
- Transfer the data from your Android device or iPhone/iPad/iPod touch to the speaker.
- Complete the update using the speaker.
Step 1: Install the Update
- Connect to a power supply outlet.
- Connect the supplied AC adapter to the DC IN 5V port on the speaker and an AC outlet.
Note: The software update cannot be performed when using battery power only.
- Connect the supplied AC adapter to the DC IN 5V port on the speaker and an AC outlet.
- Turn on the speaker.
- Launch the Sony | Music Center app.
- Connect your speaker to the Sony | Music Center app.
- The following screen will be shown when the connection has been established.
If an update is applicable, an Update the software of the speaker. message will be displayed. Press More info to proceed.
- Verify that version 6500 or 8800 is displayed, then press OK to start the update.
- Once the download starts, the next screen will automatically appear after the download is completed.
- Once the transfer starts, the next screen will automatically appear after the transfer is completed.
Note: Do not turn off your speakers while downloading updates, transferring data, or updating the software. Otherwise, the speakers may stop working. - When the software update is completed, press OK.
- If the screen is not displayed, check whether the version has been upgraded in the Step 2: Check the Update Was Successful section below.
- The speaker automatically turns off when the software update ends.
Step 2: Check the Update Was Successful
After the update, confirm the new version has been installed successfully by following the steps in the Check the Firmware Version section.
If the firmware version shown is 6500 or 8800, the upgrade was successful.
Questions & Answers
An update error message appears.
Follow these steps:
- Press OK.
- Restart the speaker (turn the power off and then on).
- After restarting the speaker, restart the Sony | Music Center app, then try the update again.
Even though the update failed during the process, check the firmware version. If the version shown is 6500 or 8800, the firmware update was successful. If not, try the firmware update again. You can check the version from the settings in the Sony | Music Center app. To find out how to check the version, go to the Check the Firmware Version section on this page.
