Connect a Sound Bar to Your TV

How to connect your TV and Soundbar will depend on the connection ports they have available.
Check your devices and then choose the appropriate connection method below.

    Before You Start

    • The connections illustrated in this solution use the HT-CT660 sound bar. Your sound bar and TV connections may vary. Check your manuals for model-specific information.

    1. Select Your Connection Method

HDMI (ARC) HDMI and Optical digital audio cable Optical digital audio cable only

To determine if the HDMI IN port on your TV supports the  Audio Return Channel (ARC)  function, check for the ARC label. If it doesn't have this label, the ARC function won't work.

    1. Connect one end of the HDMI cable (sold separately) to the HDMI IN (ARC) port on your TV.
    2. Connect the other end to the TV OUT (ARC) port on your sound bar.

Note: For the A95L TV, the Digital Audio Adapter must be connected to the optical cable before connection to the TV. Refer to this article.

When you connect only with an optical audio cable, functions which require an HDMI connection, such as power interlock and volume control with the TV remote, won't be possible.

    1. Connect an optical audio cable from the TV's Optical digital audio out jack to the OPTICAL IN jack on your sound bar.

    • If other devices are connected to the HDMI IN ports on your sound bar, you will hear the audio, but video won’t display on your TV screen. To see video, the device needs to be connected to the TV instead of the sound bar.

Analog audio cable only Connect another device to your soundbar & TV

Connect the analog audio cable from the TV's audio output jack to the ANALOG IN jack on your sound bar. The type of analog connections on your devices determine how you connect.
