Reset your Android TV to factory settings

    IMPORTANT: This article applies only to specific products and/or operating systems. Check Applicable Products and Categories for details.

    WARNING!A Factory data reset deletes all customized settings, including channels, account information (such as a Google™ account), system and applications data, downloaded apps, wired and Wi-Fi® network settings, and parental lock settings.

    Before you start

    • Most issues on your TV may be resolved when you perform a power reset or restart first:
      • Perform a Power Reset or Restart of the TV

    • You can sync your apps with your Google account to recover some of the application's data after you perform a factory reset. Follow the steps below depending on your TV menu.
      • Press HOMESettingsDevice Preferences or Accounts and Sign inGoogleChoose synced apps → select items to sync → Sync now
      • Press HOMESettingsGoogleChoose synced apps in Sync → select items to sync → Sync now
      • Press HOMESettingsPersonalGoogleChoose synced apps in Sync → select items to sync → Sync now

    Factory Data Reset

    The procedure varies depending on the status of your TV:

    • If the Home screen can be displayed:

      Notes:

      • The display screen may differ depending on the model or OS version.
      • For the X7 and W8 series: Skip step 6.

      1. On the supplied remote, press the HOME button.
      2. Select Settings.
      3. Follow the steps according to your TV menu:
        • Select Device PreferencesReset.
        • Select Device PreferencesAboutReset, Factory reset, or Factory data reset..
        • Select Storage & Reset.
      4. Select Factory data reset or Reset.
      5. Select Erase Everything.
        • If you're asked to provide a password, enter the password for the Parental lock (Broadcast).
      6. Select Yes.
    • If the Home screen cannot be displayed (the HOME button on the remote control does not work)

      For the X74xxH_X75xxH, X7, and W8 series: If there is a response when you press the  ACTION or Quick Settings button on the remote control, follow the procedure below.

      1. Press the  ACTION or Quick Settings button on the remote control.
      2. Select Settings.
      3. Select Device Preferences.
      4. The next steps will depend on your TV menu options:
        • Select AboutFactory reset or Factory data reset → Factory date reset
        • Select Reset
        • Select AboutReset

      For other models

      If there is a response when you press the HELP button on the remote control, then follow the procedure below.

      Note: The display may differ depending on the model or OS version.

      1. On the supplied remote, press the HELP button.
      2. Under How to use your TV select Manual (Help Guide) or Help Guide
      3. Select Settings.
      4. Select Configuring the TV.
      5. Select Watching TV or TV.
      6. Select Settings.
      7. Follow the steps according to your TV menu options:
        • Select Device PreferencesReset.
        • Select Storage & Reset.
      8. Select Factory data reset.
      9. Select Erase Everything.
        • If you're asked to provide a password, enter the password for the Parental lock (Broadcast).
      10. Select Yes.

    Note:

    • The factory reset may take a few moments. Wait until the process completes.
    • You need to enter a PIN code (if one was set on your TV) when you select the Erase everything option.
    • After the factory reset process completes successfully, your TV proceeds to the initial setup wizard. You will need to agree to the Google Terms of Service and Google Privacy Policy.
    • You need to activate the touchpad pairing sequence again after a factory reset.
