How to troubleshoot the monitor hardware.

NOTES:

  • If a thin, gray horizontal line is visible on your display, additional information is available .
  • Because each of these steps can be a possible resolution for display issues, check the display function after completing each step.
  1. Turn the monitor off, wait twenty to thirty seconds, then turn the monitor back on. This will degauss the monitor.

    NOTES:

    • Degaussing is the process of removing magnetism from the monitor. This magnetism is created by external magnetic forces, such as the earths natural magnetism, electronic or magnetic devices placed close to the monitor, and even flouescent lighting.
    • This process may need to be repeated several times to completely degauss the monitor.
  2. Reset the monitor to the factory default settings.
  3. Perform a monitor self test .
  4. Wiggle the cable where it connects to the monitor.

    NOTE: These monitors have two HD-15 cable connectors.

  5. Wiggle the cable where it connects to the monitor. If wiggling the cable causes the problem to go away and then come back, the monitor cable may be damaged or have an electrical short, or the connector on the monitor is faulty.
  6. Plug the HD-15 cable into the other HD-15 port (Input 1 or 2).
  7. Move the Input Selector Switch [FIG. 1] to the Input port corrisponding to the one selected.
  8. Again wiggle the cable where it connects to the monitor. If wiggling the cable this time causes the problem to occur, replace the cable.

If after replacing the cable the display problems persist, the connectors on the monitor may be faulty and service will be required to resolve the issue.
