My aibo won't connect to my Wi-Fi network

If your aibo™ robotic companion cannot connect to your Wi-Fi® network, check these steps for a possible solution:

Note: Try connecting your aibo to your Wi-Fi network after completing each step to check if the issue is resolved. If specific information is required to complete any steps with your Wi-Fi router or access point, check the device manual or contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) for assistance. For aibo specific information, check your aibo's manual. Manuals are posted on your model support page.

    1. Check if your Wi-Fi router or access point is turned on.
    2. Perform power reset on your router and aibo.

    3. Check if the Wi-Fi signal is weak. Make sure to place aibo near your router or access point. Review the tips to maximize network and internet performance in your home for additional information.
    4. Place your router away from areas or devices that can interfere with the network connection.

    5. If your router has stealth mode, make sure it's set to off. Stealth mode prevents the Wi-Fi name (SSID) to display.
    6. Check your wireless network connection band. Many routers support both 2.4 and 5 GHz. Because aibo doesn't support 5 GHz, make sure that your router is compatible and set for the 2.4 GHz band.
    7. Check your router security settings. We recommend using WPA2-PSK for aibo as it doesn't support WEP.
    8. Check your password. The password might have been entered incorrectly in the My aibo app. Because passwords are case-sensitive, when entering information, be sure to enter it while confirming whether the letters are upper-case or lower-case.
    9. Check if aibo can connect to a mobile LTE network through the My aibo app (for software version 1.3.0 or later)

    10. Check that you're not exceeding the maximum connections for your Wi-Fi router or access point. You may not be able to connect if you exceed the maximum connections.
    11. Check the packet filter settings supplied by your internet provider. Changing the packet filter settings may allow aibo to connect to your Wi-Fi network.
      • Packet filters are functions that allow only some transmissions and block all other transmissions.
    12. Check if the firmware for your router or access point is updated to the latest version.
