    1. Disconnect any corded or wirelessly connected external devices, such as earbuds, headphones, a speaker, smartwatch, etc., from your device.
    2. To avoid interruptions during the setup process, it's best to turn off your Apple or Android smartwatch as many of them connect to your device via Bluetooth® and Wi-Fi®.
    3. Temporarily turn OFF Bluetooth on your device.
      • Android smartphone or tablet:
        • Swipe down from the top of the screen once or twice to open the Quick Access panel, and then tap the Bluetooth icon to turn it off.
        • The icon will turn gray when Bluetooth is turned off.
      • iphone/iPad:
        • Go to SettingsBluetooth and turn off Bluetooth.
        • The toggle switch will turn gray when Bluetooth is turned off.

    Troubleshooting tips

I don't hear the beeps during set-up, what should I do?

Let's start by explaining how your device, whether it is a smartphone or iPad, communicates with hearing aids. Your device emits a high-pitched beeping sound that transmits data, instructing the hearing aids on what to do. Although most people don’t usually hear this sound, it is essential for the device’s speaker to produce it. To ensure this works properly, your device must be unmuted, the media volume (not the ringer volume) should be set to 75%, and any external devices, such as smartwatches, headphones, and speakers, should be turned off. The app provides detailed instructions for each of these steps.

Here are the most common reasons that beeps may not be heard during set-up:

    • The "media" volume on your device is not set to 75%:
      • To hear the beeps during setup, you must set your device’s media volume to 75%. Please note that media volume differs from ringer volume. Media volume. controls the sound for music, videos, and games, while ringer volume manages notification sounds for calls and texts.
      • To check if sound is playing from your device’s speaker at 75% media volume, play a song or video clip. You should be able to hear the audio clearly. While it is playing, you can use the volume buttons, typically located on the side of your device, to adjust the media volume to 75% as needed.
    • The device is muted:
Ensure that your device is unmuted during the setup process. Follow the steps for your device and refer to your device’s manual or manufacturer’s website for details, if needed.
      • Android: Press one of the volume buttons on the phone to open the small volume slider/panel. Tap the down arrow or the three-dot menu (…) to open the full volume slider panel. Locate and unmute the Media volume by sliding its bar to 75%, and then tap Done.
      • iPhone: Press and hold the Action button, available on iPhone 15 Pro and newer models, until you see the bell icon, indicating it is unmuted. Alternatively, you can push the Ring/Silent switch forward, toward the screen, so no orange is showing, to unmute your phone. For detailed instructions, visit the Apple website.
      • iPad: Press the volume up button to increase the volume to 75% to unmute it. Alternatively, you can swipe down from the top-right corner of the screen to bring up the Control Center. Locate the bell icon. If the bell icon is gray , the iPad is unmuted. If it is red (muted), tap the bell icon to unmute it.
    • Interference from smartwatches or other Bluetooth devices:
      • Bluetooth devices can interfere with programming the hearing aids by redirecting audio away from your device (smartphone/iPhone/iPad). To avoid this, turn off any external Bluetooth devices and verify in your device’s Bluetooth settings that they show as Not Connected. Note It’s best to turn off Bluetooth devices rather than just unpairing them because many, like smartwatches, connect via both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, so powering them down prevents interruptions during setup, as unpairing alone may not stop interference from Wi-Fi.
    • App interference::
It’s common for your device to have numerous apps running in the background, often without your awareness. Some of these apps can interfere with the sound needed to program your hearing aids. To avoid this issue, it's important to close all background apps, including the Sony | Hearing Control app. After doing so, you can reopen the Sony | Hearing Control app.
    • Low battery: The battery is losing power. Make sure you have a fully charged battery for setup, as the hearing aids won’t connect if the battery is low or depleted.
    • Poor internet connection: A strong Wi-Fi or cellular data connection is essential for setup. An unstable internet connection will disrupt the setup process.
