The camcorder will not fast-forward or rewind the inserted tape.

Follow this procedure to troubleshoot if the camcorder will not fast-forward or rewind the inserted tape.

  1. Make sure the camcorder is in the VTR or playback mode.
  2. Attempt to fast forward or rewind the tape.
  3. Turn off the camcorder.
  4. Eject the tape.
  5. Remove the tape from the camcorder.
  6. Reinsert the tape into the camcorder.
  7. Turn on the camcorder.
  8. Make sure the camcorder is in the VTR or playback mode.
  9. Attempt to fast forward or rewind the tape.
  10. Turn off the camcorder.
  11. Eject the tape.
  12. Remove the tape from the tape from the camcorder.
  13. Insert another tape into the camcorder.
  14. Turn on the camcorder.
  15. Make sure the camcorder is in the VTR or playback mode.
  16. Attempt to fast forward or rewind the tape.

    NOTE: If the camcorder is able to fast-forward and rewind the newly inserted tape, then the previous tape may be faulty.

The troubleshooting steps listed above should resolve your issue. If you have completed all of the steps and the issue is not resolved, service may be required.
