Use a Google Home Device with a Sound Bar or an A/V Receiver

Set Up

The Google Home® voice-activated speaker has many different features and functions that you can use with your sound bar or an A/V receiver. Check the information below before connecting the Google Home device to your device:

  • Make sure that the Google Cast™ or Chromecast™ version of your device is version 1.21x or later.

    1. On the your device's remote control, press the HOME button.
    2. Select Setup.
    3. Select System Settings.
    4. Select System Information.
    5. Check the Google Cast Version or the Chromecast built-in Version.
  • Reset your device to its factory defaults.

    IMPORTANT: For model-specific information, refer to your device's manual. Manuals are posted on your model support page.

    • For sound bars
      1. On your remote control, press the HOME button.
      2. Select Setup.
      3. Select Resetting.
      4. Select Reset to Factory Default Settings.
    • For receivers
      1. Power off the receiver.
      2. Press the Power button for more than five seconds.
  • Set the Quick Start/Network Standby to On.
    1. On your device's remote control, press the HOME button.
    2. Select Setup.
    3. Select System Settings.
    4. Select System Information.
    5. Select Quick Start/Network Standby.
    6. Select On.

Note:

  • Your device will use its MAC address as the device name. You have an option in the Google Home app to change it.
