There could be several reasons why your TV cannot connect to a wireless network using a wireless access point device. Follow these troubleshooting steps.

    Perform basic checks

Before exploring more complex solutions, perform basic checks to eliminate any simple issues.

    • Ensure that your Wi-Fi router is turned on and functioning properly.
    • Verify that your TV is within range of the Wi-Fi® signal and not obstructed by physical barriers.
    • Ensure your Wi-Fi network is active and visible to other devices, such as phones and computers.
    • Restart your devices:
Turn off your TV and the Wi-Fi router, and unplug them from the power source.
Wait one or two minutes before plugging in and turning on both devices. Allow them to fully reboot before attempting to plug them back in.

Check your wireless access point (WAP) device

Certain wireless access point (WAP) devices will not connect wirelessly to the TV when using the WPA2 Personal security mode. To resolve this issue, change the security mode setting of your access point to WPA2 Personal Mixed or WPA. For help changing the settings of your access point, refer to your access point manual, or contact the device manufacturer, or your internet service provided (ISP). If you're unable to change the security type setting of your wireless access point, you can still connect with your TV by using the TVs manual entry mode.

Note: To connect to your TV using the manual entry mode, some steps may require that you know the specific settings used when the router was set up. If you don't know these settings, check your device to confirm. For assistance with your device settings, refer to your access point manual, or contact the device manufacturer, or your internet service provided (ISP).

    TV manual entry mode

    1. On the supplied remote, press the Home button.
    2. Select Settings.
    3. Select Network.
    4. Select Setup network connection.
    5. Select Custom.
    6. Select Wireless setup.
    7. Select Scan.
    8. Select Manual entry.
    9. Input your network SSID (name of your wireless network).
    10. Select your security mode type from the following available options:
      • None
      • WEP
      • WPA/WPA2-PSK (TKIP)
      • WPA/WPA2-PSK (AES)

Note: WPA/WPA2-PSK (AES) is often the default setting for many access points. If you don't know which security type was selected when setting up your network, you may try each of these settings until you find the one that works, or check your access point device settings to confirm.
