TV screen briefly goes black when turning on certain HDMI devices
The HDMI-CEC function causes this behavior and is not an issue with your BRAVIA® TV or external devices.
BRAVIA TV and some external HDMI® devices, including the Nintendo Switch™ 2, are equipped with HDMI-CEC, which enables communication and control between connected devices. Depending on the type and number of connected devices, this function may switch the input source several seconds (up to 30 seconds) after a device is turned on.
For example, if the Match TV Power State is set to On in the Nintendo Switch 2 settings, turning on the console will automatically switch your TV's HDMI input to the Nintendo Switch 2. Afterwards, the HDMI communication between the TV and the console stops. This may cause the HDMI input to switch again, resulting in the screen temporarily going black.
- If this issue occurs with a Nintendo Switch 2, we have confirmed that updating the console to the latest system firmware improves HDMI-CEC operation and resolves the issue.
