This privacy policy ("Privacy Policy") applies to the information collected by Sony Corporation of America (“Sony,” “We,” “Us” or “our”), both both offline and online, through this Website and any other Website posting this Privacy Policy (“Website”) as well as access to or participation in promotions, events, advertisements, sweepstakes, surveys, or other offerings of online services, social networking services, software, platforms, tools or applications provided by or operated by Sony Corporation of America on behalf of itself and/or its parents, affiliates and subsidiaries that post a link to this Privacy Policy, whether accessed via computer, mobile device or other technology (collectively, “Offerings”).
This Privacy Policy explains the information that Sony may collect when you interact with us, or the information we obtain from other Sony Group companies (“Affiliates”) and business partners acting on our behalf, and our practices with respect to that information. Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. In addition, please review the applicable Terms and Conditions.
This Privacy Policy does not apply to information collected by any Affiliates which have their own privacy policies. Our Affiliates may make available their own websites, mobile apps, promotions, sweepstakes, surveys, social media posts, or other offerings that have their own terms and conditions and privacy policies.
We may collect information about you in the following contexts:
Information You Provide to Sony. We may ask you to provide information that could reasonably be used to contact you or to identify you personally such as your first and last name, e-mail address, mailing address, username, social media handle, social media avatar, profile picture, photos, videos, or telephone number ("Personal Data"). If you choose not to provide this information, you may not be able to participate in certain Offerings. If you provide us with photos or videos, such images may include metadata which can indicate information about the images, including but not limited to, where and when the image was taken, we will treat this metadata as Personal Data.
Sony’s Offerings are open only to individuals who are 16 years of age and older; some of which may only be open or available to individuals who are over the age of majority in their state of legal residence. We do not knowingly seek or collect information from persons younger than 16 years of age. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected Personal Data from a person younger than 16 years of age through an Offering, we will take reasonable measures to delete such information from our records.
Information We Receive from Affiliates and Business Partners.
We may obtain from our Affiliates and business partners or be given access to other information about yourself, such as, demographic information (gender, zip code, age, professional industry, employment status, education, income, ethnicity, marital status, number of children, etc.), information about your preferences and interests, and the names, titles, models, or other details about the products, services and/or media you have purchased or used.
We may also obtain information about your impressions or opinions of the Sony or Affiliate brand, Sony or Affiliate products, or other Sony or Affiliate surveys or other campaigns. This information would be deidentified or aggregated, and we would not try to reidentify it.
Social Media Functionality, Content, Links to Other Properties and Services, and Sony Content on Other Websites. Certain information we post or collect may be hosted by online services not controlled by Sony, which may provide additional functionality to you (such as to “Like” or “Share” content or to provide ratings and reviews). Interaction with this content and functionality may result in your Personal Data becoming publicly available, linked with other profiles or accounts, or otherwise accessed by others. You should review these other services’ privacy policies prior to using their functionality.
In addition, when you participate in an Offering or interact with certain features on our Website(s), you may be directed to other websites that are not operated and controlled by Sony. These other websites may independently collect data or solicit Personal Data beyond our control, subject to their own privacy policies.
Information Sony Collects Automatically via Web Tracking Technology. We may also collect information via Web tracking technologies (“Internet Information”) when you visit our Websites. This includes information about how the Website(s) are accessed and used and may include, without limitation, browser type, operating systems, preceding page views, and time on Website; information about the device including IP address or other unique identifier assigned to the device used to access the Website(s); and cookies. How Sony Uses the Information It Collects
Sony will use the information it collects, including your Personal Data: (i) to process and allow your participation in an Offering; (ii) to communicate with you or provide content you request or consent to receive; (iii) to verify your identity and eligibility for an Offering; (iv) to furnish any prize or reward for participation in an Offering; (v) to use your impressions of the Sony or Affiliate brand for marketing or other purposes related to brand reputation; (vi) to improve our products and services; (vii) for internal business purposes; (viii) to comply with the law and establish or defend legal claims; (ix) to ensure compliance with Sony’s Terms and Conditions and other applicable terms of service or policies, including this Privacy Policy; (x) to detect, investigate, or prevent fraud; (xi) protect the security of Sony’s Websites, mobile apps, or other digital properties; (xii) to protect the rights, property, safety, or security of our business partners or the public; (xiii) for purposes disclosed at the time you provide your Personal Data; and (xiv) otherwise with your consent.
When and With Whom Sony May Disclose Your Information
We may disclose your information, including your Personal Data, as described at the time you provide your information, as set forth in this Privacy Policy, and in the following circumstances:
Business Partners Providing Services on Our Behalf. We may from time to time employ business partners to perform functions on our behalf, for example: sending e-mail, mobile message communications (“SMS”), and other communications, including for promotions or sweepstakes reward fulfillment and providing customer support.
Business Transfers. Sony or any of its assets may be sold, or other transactions may occur in which your Personal Data is one of the key business assets for the transaction. In such cases, your Personal Data may be one of the business assets we transfer. Hence, Sony and Affiliates reserve the right to disclose and transfer user information, including Personal Data, in connection with a corporate merger, consolidation, restructuring, reorganization, the sale of certain stock and/or assets, or other corporate change including, without limitation, during the course of any due diligence process.
Legal Protections and Law Enforcement. We may transfer and disclose information, including your Personal Data, to another entity: to comply with a legal obligation, to prevent fraud, when we believe in good faith that the law requires it, at the official request of governmental authorities conducting an investigation, to verify or enforce Sony’s Terms and Conditions or other applicable policies, to respond to an emergency, or otherwise to protect the rights, property, safety, or security of our business partners or the public.
Administering Offerings. Our Offerings include promotions, contests, surveys, and sweepstakes that may require registration. If you choose to participate in an Offering, your Personal Data may be disclosed to a business partner in connection with the administration of such Offering, such as in connection with winner selection, prize fulfillment, and as required by law, such as on a disclosure on a winner’s list. By entering an Offering, you are agreeing to the official rules that govern that Offering, which may contain specific requirements of you, including, except where prohibited by law, allowing the sponsor and/or other parties to use your name, voice, and/or likeness in advertising or marketing materials.
Co-Promotion Partners. The Offerings may be provided jointly with another entity (each, a “Feature”). As a result of your participation in any such Feature, your information may be disclosed by us or our business partners to the entity that is jointly offering such Feature, which will be disclosed at the time your information is collected. Co-promotion partners that do not follow this Privacy Policy will handle your information in accordance with their own privacy policies, the terms of which may be different than this Privacy Policy.
Information You Disclose Publicly
Participation in an Offering may allow you to post, display, create, publish, transmit, upload, broadcast, or otherwise make available text, videos, pictures, notes, drawings, comments, messages, artwork, graphics, photos, sounds, information, and other statements through external social networks and similar third-party websites such as Facebook, X (formerly known as Twitter), TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram (collectively, “User Submissions”) including Personal Data.
Note that User Submissions that you post may be public. User Submissions you choose to post may be viewed, collected, used, or disclosed by others.
Your Rights. Depending on the laws in your jurisdiction, you may have rights related to your Personal Data, including the right to access a copy of your Personal Data, the right to request the deletion or updating of any inaccurate Personal Data, the right to data portability, and the right to object or opt-out, in some cases, to our processing of your Personal Data. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority.

You may also be a customer or account holder with one or more other Sony companies. You may exercise your rights with respect to your Personal Data by following the instructions in the privacy policy for any of the following Sony companies that may be relevant to you:

Security; Retention and Monitoring
We seek to maintain reasonable security measures designed to help protect your information, including Personal Data, against unauthorized or accidental disclosure, access, misuse, loss, or alteration. There is no such thing as perfect security. Although we strive to protect your information, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of such information. To help protect you and others, we may collect, record, or analyze online activity or communications related to our Offerings. Unless otherwise required by law or as conveyed by Sony in connection with a specific Offering, we are not responsible for monitoring or recording any activity related to an Offering although we reserve the right to do so when permitted.
We may retain your Personal Data for as long as necessary for us to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy. We may retain your Personal Data for an additional time period as is permitted or required to, among other things, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. In accordance with our routine record keeping, we may delete certain records containing your Personal Data. In addition, we will delete your Personal Data when required by applicable law. Please note that when we delete your Personal Data from active databases, some of it may remain on backup or storage media for a certain period of time.
Processing in the United States
Our Offerings are operated in and managed from the United States. If you are located outside of the United States, please be aware that information we collect will be transferred to and processed in the United States, a jurisdiction in which the privacy laws may not be as comprehensive as those in the country where you reside and/or are a citizen. By providing us with any Personal Data, you acknowledge and consent to this transfer, processing, and storage of your Personal Data in the United States. We enter into protective agreements (such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses), where required by law, to ensure that your rights and protections travel with your data and are respected by our Affiliates, business partners, and others in accordance with applicable legal requirements. Sony reserves the right to change this Privacy Policy at any time, without prior notice to you, and any changes will become effective immediately upon posting, so please review this Privacy Policy periodically.

For Residents of the United States
Depending on where you reside in the US, we may be required to provide additional information to you about how we collect, use, and disclose your Personal Data.
This US Privacy Notice (“Notice”) supplements our Privacy Policy and applies only to residents of US states with enacted privacy laws. This Notice sets forth the disclosures and rights for US residents regarding their Consumer Data, as required by applicable privacy laws. Terms used in this Notice have the same meanings given in the applicable state privacy law, unless otherwise defined below.
“Consumer Data” means information that is linked or reasonably linkable to an identified or identifiable natural person or household.
“US Privacy Law” means the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act, the Colorado Privacy Act, the Utah Consumer Privacy Act, the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act, and laws and regulations in the United States of a similar subject matter, as amended or superseded from time to time, as of their respective effective dates.
The terms “Business”, “Controller”, “Process”, “Processor”, “Sell”, “Profiling” , and “Targeted Advertising” have the meanings ascribed to them in applicable US Privacy Law.
Consumer Data. We may have collected the following categories of Consumer Data in the preceding 12 months:
- Personal Identifiers: such as, first and last name, mailing address, telephone number, social media profiles, e-mail address, age;
- Audio and Visual Information: such as, pictures or videos; and
- Internet Information: such as, IP address, usage and analytics data, and browser type.
Sensitive Consumer Data. We do not collect any Sensitive Consumer Data. Our Service Providers or Business Partners may collect some voluntary responses that we use for the purposes of organizing responses by demographic categories, but these responses cannot be used to identify anyone in particular and are not used for any purpose beyond organizing the responses.
Aggregated Consumer Data. We may obtain from our Service Providers or Business Partners Aggregated Information. We do not try to reidentify any Aggregated Consumer Data.
Sources of Consumer Data. We may collect your Consumer Data from the following sources:
- Directly from you: such as, when you voluntarily provide Consumer Data to us or our Business Partners when participating in an Offering;
- Business Partners: such as, co-promotion partners, brand partners, marketing partners, Affiliates; and
- Social media platforms and applications.
Use and Disclosure of Consumer Data. In the preceding twelve (12) months, we may have used your Consumer Data for Business Purposes to provide services on our behalf such as, to furnish prizes, advertise various Sony products, and improve Sony’s brand. As such, we may have disclosed your Consumer Data to various Business Partners and Third Parties including our Affiliates and social networks.
Your Rights. Subject to certain exceptions, you may have the following rights with regards to your Consumer Data:
Access. You can request confirmation whether we are processing your Consumer Data and access to such Consumer Data.
Deletion. You can request deletion of the Consumer Data collected from or about you.
Correction. You can request correction of any Consumer Data we maintain about you.
Opt-out. You can request to opt-out of certain processing activities related to your Consumer Data such as, Selling or Sharing your Consumer Data, any Profiling in furtherance of decision that produce legal or similarly significant effects, Targeted Advertising, and any Automated Decision Making that would lead to a decision without human review that could cause a significant effect.
Non-discrimination. We will not discriminate against you in connection with Offerings based solely upon you exercising any of your rights related to your Consumer Data.
Exercising Your Rights
Please note, we do not Sell, Profile, or make any decision using Automated Decision-Making technology that would cause a significant effect, therefore these rights don’t apply.
Depending on your online preferences, we may engage in online advertising practices (and certain analytics or similar activities), which may be considered Sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising or Targeted Advertising, as defined by applicable US Privacy Law. Verification Process. When submitting your request, you must include your first and last name, state of residence, and e-mail address. We are not responsible for requests that are not labeled or sent properly, or do not have complete information. You may be asked to provide additional proof of identification so that we can verify your identity, and we may require that you validate the request.
Authorized Agents. To the extent that you elect to designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf, such agent must provide appropriate documentation including a written signed permission form from you, proof of your identity, and verification of their identity; or a valid, designated power of attorney, as required under applicable law. We may require additional proof of authority or may need to contact you directly to validate the request.
Appeal. You may appeal a decision made by Sony regarding your Consumer Data. Please e-mail us at privacy@sonyusa.com to initiate the appeal process.

Retention. Your Personal Information is kept only as long as necessary and for a set period thereafter according to legal requirements.
Additional Disclosures.You have the same rights listed in the “Consumer Rights” section above. However, as a California resident, we are required to make a few additional disclosures about those rights:
Access. Under CA law, you specifically have the right to know what categories of Personal Information we have collected about you, the categories of sources from which the Personal Information is collected, the purpose for collecting, Selling, or Sharing that Personal Information, the categories of Third Parties to whom we disclosed that Personal Information and the specific pieces of Personal Information.
Sensitive Personal Information. Sensitive Personal Information. We do not collect any Sensitive Personal Information, therefore the right to Limit Use and Disclosure of Sensitive Personal Information does not apply.
Children’s Personal Information. We do not knowingly seek, collect, Sell, or Share information for the purposes of cross-context behavioral advertising from persons younger than 16 years of age.
Under California regulations, a Sony Offering may be considered a financial incentive.
To participate in an Offering, you may need to provide certain Personal Information, such as name and e-mail address, and you must agree to the applicable Sony’s Terms and Conditions and other applicable terms related to such Offering. Please follow the instructions associated with each Offering. Participation in any Offering is voluntary, and you can withdraw at any time.
We do not assign a monetary value to the Personal Information that we collect. However, we believe in good faith that the value we receive from an Offering is greater than the value we receive from the use of the Personal Information. The method for calculating the value would include the value of participation in the Offering; costs associated with facilitating and managing the Offering; expenses incurred in the storage, retention, and use of the Personal Information; and all other costs reasonably related to the Offering.
For Residents of the United Kingdom and Europe
To meet the obligations of the General Data Protection (“GDPR”), we are required to provide additional information to you about how we collect, use, and disclose your Personal Data.
This United Kingdom and Europe Privacy Notice (“Notice”) supplements our Privacy Policy and applies only to residents of jurisdictions that are subject to the GDPR. This Notice sets forth the disclosures and rights for residents of the United Kingdom and Europe. Terms used in this Notice have the same meanings given in the GDPR, unless otherwise defined below.
Processing your Personal Data
Sony will act as a data controller for Personal Data processed in accordance with this Privacy Policy. We rely on a variety of legal bases when we process your personal data, depending on the circumstances. These include processing to enter and carry out an agreement with you, processing with your consent when we have asked for and obtained it, processing to meet our legal obligations, or processing based upon our legitimate interests. These legitimate interests include developing our products and services to better meet customer requirements; knowing our customers better; keeping you up-to-date on Sony’s latest content, products, and services; personalizing your experience; or protecting you and our company, systems, employees and partners.
Your Rights
Where we are processing Personal Data based on your consent, you have the right to withdraw consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of the processing based on consent before its withdrawal.
This is in addition to your other rights under the GDPR, including the right to access a copy of your Personal Data, the right to request the deletion or updating of any inaccurate personal data, the right to data portability, and the right to restrict or object to, in some cases, our processing of your Personal Data.

International Data Transfers
We and our Affiliates may collect, transfer and/or retain your Personal Data in jurisdictions that do not have the same level of legal protections for Personal Data as your local jurisdiction. Sony undertakes appropriate and suitable safeguards, including the Standard Contractual Clauses, to ensure your rights continue to be protected.
