The Sony Creative Science Award (SCSA) is Sony's key CSR programme in Singapore. This year marks the 21st anniversary of this largest toy-making competition in Singapore, which has reached out to over 80,000 students since it started in 1998. The 2018 award ceremony cum exhibition held on 8 November was officiated by Ong Ye Kung, Singapore's Minister for Education.
Students between the ages of 7-12 learn about science and creativity through hands-on experience of making their own toy. SCSA provides a platform for students to express their imagination to explore, apply scientific principles creatively, and learn science beyond the classroom.
In conjunction with SCSA 2018, the Sony Science Program-MESH Workshop was held for the winning SCSA students. Guided by Sony volunteers, the 20 students aged between 9 to 12 years old had a fun time creating their own inventions using the MESH blocks developed by Sony engineers.
