Sony Creative Science Award in Singapore

Some of the winning SCSA toys

2020 marks the 23rd anniversary of the Sony Creative Science Award (SCSA), Sony’s annual CSR program in Singapore. The competition continued to receive good response this year - 2,390 toy entries were submitted by over 3,000 students from 67 primary schools. Due to the covid-19 situation, we had to take on a new approach this year - moving from a predominantly physical program with hands-on activities to one which was conducted mostly online. In place of physical activities, we pushed content online and also conducted the judging sessions and awards presentation ceremony via Zoom and Facebook live streaming. The program was conducted successfully, with positive feedback from the students, teachers and Ministry of Education. Watch the SCSA video highlights to learn more about the competition and discover the creativity of the students.

Over 1,200 students, teachers and parents attended the online awards presentation ceremony, officiated by Kenichi Shiraishi, Director of Sony Electronics Asia Pacific

SCSA serves a platform for Primary school students between the ages of 7-12 to learn about science and creativity through toy creation. Every year, a special activity booklet is given out to students to ignite their interest in toy creation. This CSR program helps to create greater awareness of the Sony brand especially among the young and at the same time, it allows Sony to contribute to the local community through education.

A special SCSA booklet containing fun hands-on activities is given out to all participating students
