Sony Creative Science Award Singapore Celebrates 24th Anniversary

2021 marks the 24th anniversary of the Sony Creative Science Award (SCSA), Sony’s annual CSR program in Singapore. SCSA serves a platform for primary school students between the ages of 7-12 to learn about science and creativity through toy-making. This is the second year that the toy-making competition was held virtually, and a new online portal was also created for students and teachers to access e-resources such as toy-making videos and guidebooks. Participation rate in the competition was back to pre-covid level, with more than 4,330 entries submitted by 5,460 students from 81 schools.

The hybrid award ceremony was held on 12 November 2021, officiated by the 2nd Minister for Education Dr Maliki Osman and Sony Electronics Asia Pacific Managing Director Naoki Sekiguchi. More than 800 students, teachers and parents attended the ceremony via online live stream.

SCSA provides an opportunity for Sony to contribute to the local community through education. Since its inception, over 79,000 toys have been submitted by close to 100,000 students, making SCSA the largest toy-making competition in Singapore.
