2022 marked the 25th anniversary of the Sony Creative Science Award (SCSA), Sony's annual CSR program in Singapore. Since its inception in 1998, SCSA has impacted over 100,000 students, providing the young generation with a platform to showcase their creativity and love for science through an annual toy-making competition. Response to the 2022 competition continued to be overwhelming, with more than 3,800 toy creations submitted by 4,700 students.
The award ceremony was held on 8 November 2022, officiated by the Minister for National Development Desmond Lee and Takakiyo Fujita, Managing Director of Sony Electronics Asia Pacific and Sony Electronics (Singapore). It was a fun-filled ceremony, with a special video commemorating the past 25 years' milestones, as well as the presence of six alumni student winners who participated in past SCSA competitions, including the very first winner who is now 37 years old! The CurioStep-MESH workshop was also held, where the students created a vehicle incorporating MESH tags and using Xperia phones, guided by Sony volunteers.
