2024 marks the 27th anniversary of the Sony Creative Science Award (SCSA), Sony's annual CSR program in Singapore. Since its inception in 1998, SCSA has engaged over 110,000 students, providing them with a platform to showcase their creativity and love for science through an annual toy-making competition. This year's program received more than 3,300 toy creations submitted by 4,750 students from 85 schools, and the award ceremony on 7 November 2024 was attended by over 400 students, teachers and parents. SCSA provides an opportunity for Sony to contribute to the local community through STEAM education and at the same time, create greater awareness of the Sony brand among the young generation.
In conjunction with SCSA 2024, the CurioStep-MESH Workshop was held for the winning SCSA students. Guided by Sony volunteers, the students had to design and create a vehicle incorporating MESH tags and using Xperia phones for an onsite race challenge.
