poiq is an entertainment robot that grows through interaction with the user. As it develops a deeper understanding of the user, it will become able to engage in more fulfilling communication by using knowledge about the user’s interests in conversations.
The robot’s design combines the minimum elements needed for communicating with humans. The eyes use multiple LED lights to simulate various expressions, and the face can move freely inside the canopy. The camera and sensors used to capture the user were made inconspicuous so that poiq will feel more like a buddy you feel comfortable talking to. The facial structure was designed with particular attention to the richness of its expressions, especially those of the eyes, that are crucial for communication.
