“I was working on the front line going to the matches feeling that match day pressure knowing your potential effect you can have on the game.”
The screen zooms in on a soccer match, which transitions into an animated version of the players and the field. A white title appears over an orange background, flanked by two purple semi-circles.

“In a major football final in England recently, there was a real David and Goliath situation. The smaller team was holding on for the majority of the game.”
Charlie is watching a soccer match on a monitor. Both teams crowd the smaller team’s goal, and a player in red kicks a ball in mid-air and appears to score.

“Towards the end of the game, the bigger team scored a goal which sent their fans into absolute pandemonium.”
An animation shows two players going offside.

“But with the VAR system from Hawk-Eye, the goal was actually reviewed. That goal was then disallowed.”
An animation zooms into the ball, showing that it stopped on the goal line and did not cross. Text appears below it.

“And that smaller team actually then went on to win the game, and held on to win their first final in their history.”
On another camera, red and blue outlines mark players and an arc travels the ball.

“Without the Hawk-Eye technology, they may have missed out on that due to an incorrect call.”
