Sony - FUTURE PROOF : Peak Performance
JARRYD
“I’ve always had this desire for speed.”
Inspirational music plays. Someone walks up to stand at starting blocks on a red running track with a blade prosthetic attachment in place of their right leg. On the inside of the blade is a white “Xiborg” logo.
Dark blue circles move slowly away on either side of a blue background with white text in the middle. ON SCREEN TEXT: Peak Performance
A fit, clean-shaven Caucasian man with cropped brown hair sits in front of some weights and medicine balls on a stand in a wood-paneled room. He is wearing a maroon polo. A blue bubble appears from the bottom left with white text.

JARRYD WALLACE
“I look at the blade and I say, “How fast can this blade go?””
Jarryd has his foot and blade on the starting blocks and his hands on the ground. He pushes off and sprints down the track. In his interview, he smiles as he talks.
JARRYD
“Is this blade actually faster than what my able-bodied leg is capable of and it’s up to my able bodied leg to keep up with it, or my sound side to keep up with the blade?”
On the track, Jarryd leans into a curve in the track, arms pumping as he runs. Yellow subtitles appear as a man speaks in Japanese.
KEN ENDO
“Each athlete has a different running style.”
Now a clean-shaven, middle aged Japanese man in a grey shirt with a science graphic sits in front of two table drills in a wood-paneled space. A blue bubble in the bottom left introduces him with white text.

“The first thing I do is find out what kind of running style this person has by talking to them and looking at their data.”
On the side of the track, Jarryd props his prosthetic up. Now he jogs, lifting his prosthetic as high as possible with every step.
JARRYD
“There’s so many variables that come into peak performance.”
Jarryd takes a seat at a shaded bench on the side of the track. He peels down a black sleeve where the prosthetic attaches.
JARRYD
“I had to become a student of technology.”
An air pump with a pressure gauge rests on the bench. Now he uses it, squeezing the handles quickly, with the hose attached at the bottom of where his stump connects to the prosthetic and the blade begins.
JARRYD
“I had to become an expert in that field so that I could maximize that potential.”
Jarryd sprints down the track at full speed.
KEN
“In Jarryd’s case, his pitch is fast –”
Jarryd runs the track’s curve.
KEN
“he’s an athlete whose rotation rate is very high.”
In Ken’s interview.
KEN
“After learning his running style”
Now Jarryd walks on the track with his blade. He stands at the bench, then places his foot and blade against the starting blocks.
KEN
“I looked into the shape of the prosthesis and the malleability of the blade”
In Ken’s interview.
KEN
“to make sure it doesn’t interfere with his running.”
Hands on the ground, Jarryd’s head is bowed as he blows out a breath. He lifts his gaze to stare down the track, then he pushes off and dashes down the lane.
JARRYD
“You know, it’s been a learning process from day one, just truly becoming a student of technology and allowing it to take me places that I’ve never been before, which it has.”
A dark blue screen splits into two bubbles on a blue background as the music fades out. The left bubble has a white logo.
