The Dinosaurs of Laramidia
2021 @ YOKOHAMA
A five-year-old boy in a striped t-shirt watches a large t-rex silhouette walk across light walls. A clean-shaven Japanese man in his 40s wears a cowboy hat and denim shirt as he leans over to look at a screen. The screen shows the shape of an adult human next to a large triceratops dinosaur in 3D. English subtitles appear as a man is interviewed in Japanese.

ON SCREEN TEXT: This is a brand-new experience seeing dinosaurs
ON SCREEN TEXT: from an angle that you have never seen before.
A young man leans forward to look at the human and dinosaur on the screen. The man straightens, then leans over another way to look at it from a different angle.
ON SCREEN TEXT: I’ve heard people leaving the exhibit talking about how amazing and fun it is,
A little girl smiles at the screen which now compares the human figure to a tyrannosaurus rex.
ON SCREEN TEXT: which means people forget about technology and the “WOW“ comes first,
ON SCREEN TEXT: which is always the best fusion of technology and creativity.

ON SCREEN TEXT: The highlight of this theater
A young woman looks up at the screen with an awestruck expression as her hair blows around her.
ON SCREEN TEXT: is not just the images themselves,
A couple stands together as feathered dinosaurs as the dinosaurs run into the forest. A little girl blinks at the screen as the wind blows at her.
ON SCREEN TEXT: but also the light, the wind and the haptics.
A crowd of people stand watching the screen and experiencing the prehistoric environment in front of them with Sony’s Crystal LED display and haptic technology. Wind blows at them and lighting shifts in the theater to enhance the environment.
ON SCREEN TEXT: I could feel everyone’s reaction as if they had entered the Cretaceous Period.
ON SCREEN TEXT: At the end of the show, it seemed like everyone enjoyed it, and children wanted to see it again, which made me very happy.
A little girl holds her face as she tilts her head upward and laughs. She holds a dinosaur figurine in one hand. The crowd of people stand spaced apart, watching the screen as a triceratops roars. Logos appear.
