TransferJetTM LSI "CXD3268AGW" | November | 1,500 yen |
TransferJetTM is a wireless data transfer technology featuring a highly intuitive interface that allows two devices to communicate simply by bringing them close together. The "CXD3267AGG" and "CXD3268AGW" which Sony is introducing are LSIs that realize TransferJetTM close proximity wireless data transfer based on the technical specifications established by the "TransferJet Consortium".*2
Sony has leveraged its expertise in high-speed transmission technology cultivated over many years to apply wideband wireless for use in close proximity wireless transfer usage scenarios. Sony has also integrated the wireless function, signal processing function and host interfaces necessary for high-speed communication into a single package using CMOS (complementary metal-oxide semiconductor) processing. As a result, this enables TransferJetTM functionality to be incorporated with the addition of just a few external parts, simplifying its use in small-sized products.
Sony is making available a reference kit and software development kit for developers. These kits facilitate the implementation of this technology into products such as cellular phones, digital video cameras, digital still cameras, personal computers and hard disk recorders.
In addition, Sony is further enhancing its lineup with the release of three modules incorporating these new LSIs: a compact module for use in mobile products, a PCI Express Mini Card module for use in notebook PCs, and a USB connection module.

TransferJetTM is a close proximity wireless technology enabling a high speed data transmission rate of 560 Mbps and eliminating major issues of current wireless technologies such as complex initial setup, unstable transmission or the need for access points. TransferJetTM has adopted an intuitive interface consisting of simply bringing two products in close proximity. For example, one can display a picture simply by touching a digital camera to a TV, or transfer music files just by holding a cellular phone over a portable audio player. This technology is expected to be widely utilized as a high-speed universal interface connecting a variety of consumer electronic products.
The "TransferJet Consortium" was established on July 1, 2008. The "TransferJet Consortium" establishes the specifications to ensure interoperability between TransferJetTM products and aims to develop and promote products and services applying TransferJetTM technology. As of November 30, 2009, the consortium consists of 19 promoters and 22 adopters.
