Ginza Sony Park (2018)

Ginza Sony Park opened with the idea of offering an experimental, ever-changing park experience in the heart of the metropolis. Wanting to make even the process of reconstructing the 50-year-old 1966 Sony Building "uniquely Sony," the company embraced the incredibly innovative idea of turning the space into a park during the building’s demolition.
With all entrances and exits seamlessly connected to the city, the park embodies the concept of "a facility opened to the public," which has been passed down through the years ever since the founding of the Sony Building. The park has hosted various unique and playful programs that can only be experienced in real settings, as well as Park Live events that stage chance encounters with music.
Ginza Sony Park is designed as a platform centered around "intentional blank spaces" not limited to any particular applications, combined with various experiences. It has served as a locus of creativity amid a commercial center and set the rhythm of the city, inspiring mode changes in people visit Ginza. Over a period of three years—including the pandemic years—8.54 million people visited the park.
