Accessibility & Inclusion
Diversity
Basic Policy
With the purpose of “Fill the world with emotion, through the power of creativity and technology,” Sony continues to promote accessibility throughout the Group in order to contribute to a future where everyone can share kando (emotion). It is said that one in six people, more than 1.3 billion people, in the world have some kind of disability. Sony understands the needs of diverse users and aims to contribute to the creation of an inclusive society through the Sony Group’s diverse businesses so that people can enjoy the products, services, and entertainment that Sony provides, regardless of each individual’s characteristics such as age and disability, capability or circumstances. We are also a member of The Valuable 500, an international initiative to promote participation by people with disabilities so that they can demonstrate their latent potential to bring value to business, society, and the economy
Looking to the Future
Through our accessibility and inclusion initiatives, Sony will promote accessible environments and reasonable accommodations, contributing to the development of a social infrastructure where diverse people can interact, engage in a cycle of value creation, and thrive, while contributing to deliver new experiences and kando to creators and users with diverse needs around the world.
Metrics and Targets
Visualize the progress of initiatives based on internal standardized indicators related to accessibility and inclusion, and formulate and implement action plans for ongoing improvement.
Organizational Structure
Sony considers accessibility to be an aspect of sustainability and promotes it throughout the Group. Under the Senior Executive in charge of Sustainability, a team that promotes accessibility and inclusive design*1 across the group stands at the core of efforts involving cooperation with the people responsible for promoting accessibility and inclusion in each group company. Having established a consistent set of metrics and systems for accessibility and inclusion group-wide, we are using them as the foundation for continuous improvements.
Also, to help realize an inclusive society, we are promoting more effective initiatives that go beyond our own organization, through collaboration with external experts and advocacy groups representing people with disabilities. These efforts include partnerships with external experts and advocacy groups representing people with disabilities on events, as well as to improve products and services.
We are also working on standardization to improve accessibility. Sony has established its own evaluation standards for accessibility, based on industry standards and designed to improve the quality of accessibility in its products and services. These standards are implemented company-wide. Periodic product assessments are carried out using the standards, with the results then leveraged in ongoing efforts to improve products and services. Sony is also proactively involved in standardization activities aimed at driving improvements in accessibility throughout the industry. One example of this is that Sony Europe serves as the chair of the Human Factor Committee, a committee under the ETSI*2 European standards body and guides the creation of standards related to the usability and accessibility of products and services that utilize ICT technology. As chair of TC 100, a technical committee (TC) under the IEC*3, Sony Europe also leads the development of accessibility standards related to audio-visual products and services and multimedia.

Accessibility as Corporate Culture
Sony strives daily to foster an inclusive culture and become a company where every employee plays a key role in promoting accessibility.
For example, we hold forums and seminars led by experts to increase employee understanding of accessibility. The principal Sony Group companies offer e-learning training that fosters a deeper understanding of accessibility. Approximately 123,000*4 employees had taken the course as of the end of fiscal year 2025. Sony also works to develop new talent who can implement inclusive design. A total of more than 3,000*5 employees, of all positions and backgrounds, have taken part in Sony’s inclusive design workshops. During these workshops, employees formed teams together with people with disabilities to conduct fieldwork, identify issues, and come up with ideas. Sony also aims to expand its workshops beyond the boundaries of its business operations globally. This workshop program was developed in collaboration with an overseas non-profit organization that promotes disability inclusion with the input of co-creators with disabilities*6.
To celebrate Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD)*7, Sony Group communicates its efforts in accessibility and inclusive design, and companies around the world conducted various initiatives to raise awareness of accessibility.
We also work to improve the accessibility of work environments for employees. We have developed and begun implementing the Workplace Accessibility Guidelines which aim to help make our offices and business sites accessible and easy to navigate for everyone, including employees and visitors. We are additionally working to deepen our understanding and awareness of accessibility through an interactive area in part of our offices where employees can experience creation of an environment based on these guidelines. Sony Music Entertainment (Japan) Inc. has launched and operates the B-side Project® to support the mental health of artists, creators, and their staff. Furthermore, we have an Employee Resource Group engaged in accessibility improvement. The group provides support for employees with disabilities and regularly shares information to raise awareness of accessibility within the company.

Inclusive Design Development
In order to understand the needs of diverse customers, the entire Sony Group works with people requiring accessibility, and promotes inclusive design that reflects this input.
Sony is introducing inclusive design into its commercialization processes for products and services with the aim of expanding the application of these initiatives beyond select areas to encompass Sony as a whole. The accessibility needs of customers are applied in Sony’s product development from the early product planning process. We are also working to make environments where inclusive design is easy to implement, and have implemented an internal monitoring system with employees with disabilities registered to it to provide feedback on products and services that are under development.
Sony Corporation additionally operates a program in which employees with disabilities serve as Accessibility Advisors through ongoing participation in product creation from inception of an idea to verification. Sony Interactive Entertainment operates the PlayStation Studios Accessibility Community Council. The Council is a dedicated, global group of 15 third-party accessibility consultants with a broad range of access needs working in ongoing partnership with SIE’s studios. The Council combines lived experience with deep expertise, helping game development teams move beyond assumptions and design with greater confidence and clarity.
Sony Music Entertainment (Japan) Inc. has been conducting ongoing live demonstration events focused on accessibility as part of its internal Sustainability Day event. Comedians affiliated with Sony Music Entertainment involved people with disabilities as well as individuals from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds from the development of their jokes onwards, incorporating various perspectives throughout the process to explore how live comedy could be made more inclusive. The results of these efforts were enjoyed by the general public at the urban music festival, CENTRAL MUSIC & ENTERTAINMENT FESTIVAL 2026.
At Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE), the Easterseals Disability Film Challenge, sponsored by SPE, created the industry’s first-ever disability loop group*8 in 2024. This loop group was used to provide voices for audience cheers and other crowd scenes in Sony Pictures Animation’s original action-comedy, GOAT, released in February 2026.
Inclusive design is not limited to products and services. Music Festival for Children and Young People 2025, one of the world's largest classical music festivals for children, utilized technology from Sony Corporation and Sony Semiconductor Solutions to create an inclusive festival that everyone could enjoy. The Sony Group corporate profile web page features an accessibility map that provides typical map information as well as additional useful information and easy-to-navigate routes to ensure a diverse range of customers gain access safely and smoothly. In these endeavors, we incorporate the opinions of both people with visual disabilities and people using wheelchairs.

Working to Enhance Sony Website Accessibility
Sony established the Sony Group Web Accessibility Policy, which sets out Sony Group’s web accessibility standards and compliance requirements for websites of group companies to achieve level AA conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
We promote adoption of web accessibility policies in collaboration with group companies while also strengthening our system through ongoing improvement through monitoring after publication, as well as evaluation and improvement support combining automatic scanning and expert verification. Sony also regularly conducts a range of web accessibility training targeting different roles in the organization, and providing technical training, workshops and other related resources to help promote understanding and establish internal practice. Sony also actively works to deliver accessible digital content, including still images, audio, video and multimedia to deliver richer, more moving experiences for everyone, including people with hearing- and vision-related disabilities.
Sony will continue to strengthen its efforts to enhance web accessibility in support of a more inclusive digital society.
