Editorial Policy
Sony started to issue its Environmental Report in 1994. The report was then issued as Sony’s CSR Report from 2003 to 2017, and has been issued as the Sustainability Report since 2018.
The Sustainability Report 2026 is intended to communicate key areas of the Sony Group’s sustainability activities, focusing on Sony Group policies and initiatives undertaken in fiscal year 2025. Sony releases its Sustainability Report annually as a means of disclosing non-financial information regarding the Sony Group to a wide range of stakeholders. This report is issued with the approval of the Senior Executive in charge of sustainability.

Sony Group Corporation and its consolidated subsidiaries.

In this report, “Sony” refers to the Sony Group, as distinct from Sony Group Corporation and Sony Corporation. “Headquarters” refers to Sony Group Corporation.
Effective October 1, 2025, Sony executed a partial spin-off of Sony Financial Group Inc. (SFGI), a formerly wholly-owned subsidiary which operates the Financial Services business.
In line with the partial spin-off of the Financial Services business, information in this report regarding targets, results, and individual initiatives has, in principle, been compiled and presented on a continuing operations basis excluding the Financial Services business. Furthermore, matters that cannot be compiled and presented on a continuing operations basis are indicated as appropriate in each instance.

Sony has defined material topics as “important matters concerning sustainability related to Sony’s impact on society and the environment, as well as the impact on Sony from society and the environment, taking into account mid- to long-term social changes and the needs of diverse stakeholders,” and has conducted a materiality assessment.

Sony understands the importance of appropriate disclosure to and communication with stakeholders. Sony posts financial data, non-financial information and business summaries designed primarily for investors and shareholders on the Investor Relations section of the Sony Group portal site and issues its Sustainability Report to provide a wide range of stakeholders with non-financial information on topics such as activities related to sustainability and CSR.
